"Fifty years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, or where I lived, or how much money I made. But the
world may be different because I was important in the life of a child." -Unknown
My Philosophy of Education:
Many of my beliefs about why we educate children come from John Locke and his idea of environmentalism. His theory states
that the enviornment, not what we are born with is the main influence on a child's growth and development. I feel that although
a child may come from a family who does not have advanced education, their school environment can encourage and motivate them
to become a better person. Basically, all children are born with the same potential as any other child; it depends on how
they absorb information and use it to their advantage. If a child can feel safe and inspired, they have the possibility of
doing anything. Being a teacher will probably be one of the most challenging, but successful things I will ever do during
my lifetime. I just hope that I will be able to have a positive impact on children and guide them towards a better future.
Diversity Statement:
Diversity helps students confront perspectives other than their own and thus to think more vigorously and imaginatively; it
helps students learn to relate better to persons from different backgrounds; it helps students become better citizens.
